CRAFTY ON BOTH ENDS…
Art is always a good investment and these limited edition bronze bookends by Dan Garrett (American, b.1948) are titled “Man Made Suite” and this particular set is numbered 50/50. Dated 1995, each patinated bronze sculpture depicts a Native American male figure posed upon a rocky precipice.
Dan Garrett was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1949. His education includes majoring in Fine Art at the University of Wyoming, and self taught study in sculpture and patinas. He began his fine arts career as a painter, then, intrigued by the challenges of three dimensions, tackled and conquered clay, wood and bronze to depict his favorite subject, Native Americans. Each bronze sculpture's colorful patina is personally designed by the artist, and each base is oiled and waxed with a method similar to that used to create fine handmade furniture.
Dan has won numerous awards in art shows throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
Private collectors include Wyoming Governor Jim Geringer, King Carlos of Spain, and actress Connie Stevens as well as others in England, Scotland, Sweden, Portugal, Rome, Japan, Taiwan and Mexico. His work is also in the corporate collections of Firestone and Key Bank. Publicly his work is shown by the Leanin' Tree
Museum of Western Art in Boulder, Colorado, Old West Museum in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
